At first, the photographic gallery presents a mosaic of individuals with completely different backgrounds and origin stories and that are just colleagues in the same company. The gamble in any relocation is knowing what you leave behind but little of what awaits you. It was a personal reset in many ways - it had the seductive promise of a blank slate and the tingle of not knowing what to expect. I felt like I was floating through the streets in a bubble of ignorance most days, unfamiliar with the language and uninitiated to the customs. Struggling with simple things like grocery shopping or finding my way around a train station was humbling. I learned to slow down and enjoy the simple things, to find comfort in discomfort. There were numbing months with little sense of purpose and responsibility. But there were many others in which I was heartened by colleagues and friends with who I could share the challenges of the journey. Here comes a lady with her dog, they are real&quot;.\nIt is my first experience of living abroad after 27 years of staying in Russia. In my motherland not everyone has an ability to relocate, try living in different countries etc., so in our mentality, unlike in that of the Europeans, moving somewhere means leaving everything behind and most probably not coming back. That&#039;s how your family treats, how society sees it and you just absorb this feeling, and carry it with you as an immigration package.\nEven though living here had its ups and downs, I&#039;m blessed with the opportunity itself, with the people I have met and the things I have been able to do. When I leave Gda\u0144sk (for most probably a bigger city) I will definitely miss the coziness of the small area, its weird combination of Soviet and old German architecture, the people who have supported me and whom I can call my friends. It was immediately post-bachelor, and was not exactly planned as I originally wanted to do a master&#039;s degree. This was, on more than one way, not a good or bad opportunity, it was what I&#039;d make of it.
